The Golden Image

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served the created things rather than the Creator, who is forever praised. Amen. | Romans 1:25 NIV

Each and everyone of us should be receiving something from God each time we step foot into a church service. However, far too often are too many people going to church to "cheer" at preachers and pastors in the form of entertainment instead of really receiving deposits from those that they hear. Many who preach are not delivering God's word as they should because they are caught up in this same activity; and thus, begin to create a "GOLDEN IMAGE" for themselves. Once an image is created, we then begin to exchange the Truth(true and living God) and accept a lie(whatever is false) which becomes idolatry.

I honestly believe that when we distance ourselves from God's voice, we begin to erect images or things to fill our "Voice" void. This is what resulted in the lives of the children of Israel in the Old Testament. The word of God declared this as God would speak to Moses in Exodus chapter 20:18-19:

"Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. Then they said to Moses, 'You speak to us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.'"

Aaron, who was a leader and Moses' mouthpiece, yielded and fell to idolatry as a result of listening to people. His yielding to the voice of man is what resulted in the creation of a false image before God. Exodus 32:1-5. Just as Aaron, there are ministers and people in the body of Christ who are listening to other people and as a result are creating an IMAGE. Do you know why God appointed Joshua to be Moses' successor? Because he was always at the same place where Moses was while the children of Israel were cheering and having  fun celebrating an image that was of no match to the God that delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians. Two distinctions are very clear in the bible:

The children o f Israel:  "and they rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings(to a golden calf); and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." Exodus 32:6

Joshua:   "and the Lord spoke unto Moses face to face, as a man speaks unto his friend. And he turned again unto the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man,  did not part from the tabernacle." Exodus 33:11

Do you see the difference between the two?  While the children of Israel were celebrating, Joshua positioned himself to receive from God. And he wasn't even related to Moses! The Lord impressed upon my heart that this is why he is beckoning us to come and sit at His feet, take His yoke upon us and LEARN FROM HIM, Matthew 11:29. God wants to teach us some things! He wants to impart in us some things, and He cannot do that if our lives are filled with golden calves! When we learn from the Lord, we RECEIVE; and what we receive is what makes the difference in our lives!

God is speaking for us to position ourselves in the "tabernacle"(i.e. our places of worship) so that he may have SUCCESORS in His kingdom! Amen.
