Balance. Such a common word and a common topic for most individuals who have a busy work/life schedule. This word is all too common with any person who lives here in New York City, or even remotely close to the city. I can honestly say that the last several weeks have been so extremely busy for me, I mean to the point where I get overwhelmed at times because it's just me. With the excitement of blogging and preparing to launch a business, it can be easy to push God's word to the side because we are so driven and focused on our goals, and a desire to be successful. I confess: this is me. Often times I find myself staying up late studying blogs, researching companies, sending emails, instagramming and posting photos. Innocent, right? Why yes, it is.
However, I also find myself not making time to pick up the word consistently or simply taking a few moments to stop everything just to tell God THANK YOU. By no means am I being hard on myself, but as God's children on earth, we have been given a standard and a blueprint for success. That standard and blueprint is given to us in Joshua 1:8, "This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success." God desires for all of us to be successful, so much so that he blesses the work done with our hands. All God ask of us is that we put Him in remembrance. We do this when we take time out to spend time with Him. This is no hard task, but an easy task that should be done out of love.
I'm learning that an abiding presence of peace comes when we develop our relationship with God by spending time with Him. Peace brings balance, and a balanced life brings joy. If you find yourself falling short in this area at times like I have, ask the Holy Spirit to instill a daily reminder within your heart that is symbolic to an alarm clock that will enable you to spend time with Him. I promise you, He will do it.
Let nothing replace your Heavenly Father.
